12 days on viibryd
since he knew i liked to write, my psychiatrist asked me to keep a journal of my experience on viibyrd. please remember that this was just how i handled it. i have talked with more than a few people who have had a wonderful reaction to this medication and love it more than tacos.
he had prescribed me doxepin a little while before.
july 23, 2012 – day one
2:30 p.m. – two hours to kick in then suddenly light-headed dizzy and a bit sleepy. ate food, drove home quickly and fell onto the couch. within an hour stomach cramping and nausea and felt like i needed to shit. after half an hour, take a shit – it’s very soft – and i’m still very lethargic and dizzy. still felt that way until about 7:30 p.m. at 8 p.m. i ate some more food, shit 15 minutes later and laid on the couch until about 8:30 p.m. had to drive and felt the lethargy fading. by 9:15 it was pretty much gone. fell asleep around 1a.m. and slept until 6 a.m. (did not take my doxepin. oops!)
july 24, 2012 – day two
3:00 p.m. – it hit me within the hour felt extremely heavy and super fucking stoned. left work about 4 p.m. really should not have driven. went home and laid down. felt this way until 8-8:30 p.m. then started to feel different. hard to explain. not better and not worse but just different. shit twice after going home. cramped stomach. soft stools. slept from 12:30 a.m. to 4 a.m. (took doxepin around 11 p.m.)
july 25, 2012 – day three
5:00 p.m . – had eaten at 2-2:30. it kicked in within an hour, but dizziness and slow head were not quite as intense. took a shit. soft again. around 9:00 p.m. the wave hit me and i felt really stoned for a while. head was incredibly light and super zombie feeling. what the fuck, doctor? slept from 11:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. (took doxepin about 10:30 p.m.)
july 26, 2012 – day four
7:45 p.m. – Jerked off this morning for two hours and finally had an uneventful orgasm that by that time i couldn’t care less about. the idea of sex bores me right now. absolutely no interest. last meal at 12 p.m. slightly constipated. lethargy fairly minimal. extremely sleepy, although that might be from lack of sleep for past week. ate dinner and laid down. fell asleep around 10:30 p.m. and woke at 12:55. (didn’t take the doxepin)
july 27, 2012 – day five
4:30 p.m. – did not fall back asleep after waking at 12:55 the night before and then went to work. left at 3:45, ate at 4 p.m. and took the viibryd at 4:30. laid on couch watching television, too tired to do much else. hard to tell whether the exhaustion is from medication or just not fucking sleeping. mild cramping of the stomach. no shitting. (doxepin at 10:00 p.m. and fell asleep around 1:30 a.m.)
july 28, 2012 – day six
6:00 p.m. – woke at 7 this morning. worked until 5:30 p.m. ate a small snack and took viibryd at 6 p.m. drank a lot of beer. passed out at 1:30-2:00 a.m. and woke at 5 a.m.
july 29, 2012 – day seven
ate around 4 p.m. shit twice afterward. took viibryd. was super sleepy. still difficult to tell if it is medication or not. fell asleep at 10:45 p.m. and woke up twenty minutes later. smoked two cigarettes and took my doxepin at 11 p.m. fell back asleep sometime between 11:30 p.m. and 12 a.m. woke at 4:43 a.m.
july 30, 2012 – day eight
3:45 p.m. first day of the 20 mg of viibryd. ate big meal at 2:30 p.m. took viibyrd. started kicking in around 4:05 p.m. head bobbing and dizzy fucking walking coma sean. doxepin at 11:15 p.m. fell asleep between 12:30 and 12:45 a.m. woke up at 6 a.m.
july 31, 2012 – day nine
8:00 p.m. – ate at 7:30 and viibryd kicked in soon after. very heavy and lethargic slow moving and absolutely no desire to be around anyone or talk or anything of the sort. started to feel a combination of restless and weighed down and sleepy. took doxepin at 11:00 p.m. fell asleep around 12 a.m. and woke at 5 a.m. laid in bed for half an hour before finally getting up.
august 01, 2012 – day ten
8:30 p.m. late night and didn’t eat until 8 p.m. took viibryd immediately after and found that it didn’t give me the slow groggy feeling that i had become afraid of. there was a bit of sluggishness but nothing extreme. even felt a little energized ala adderall? took doxepin at 11:15 p.m. oh, haven’t shit since yesterday morning. awake until nearly 3 a.m. and woke at 7 a.m.
august 02, 2013 – day eleven
7:45 p.m. – another late night and once again took viibryd immediately after eating and there is a repeat of last night minus the tiny bit of energy. no nausea and only mild stomach cramping. finally was able to shit. first time since tuesday morning. took doxepin at 10:30. fell asleep between 2:45 and 3 a.m. woke at 7:30 a.m.
august 03, 2013 – day twelve
i realize that i had been doing this all wrong. should have always been taking this immediately after eating. today i ate around 1:45 p.m. and took it right after. no drowsiness but that little energy kick came back again. relieved. will start the 40 mg on sunday or monday after eating breakfast and hopefully all will be good.
the next few days pretty much went the same way. i saw my psychiatrist that monday. after reading this report and asking whether or not there had been any good that had come out of the viibyrd – i told him there honestly hadn’t been any – he took me off of it. meh, that is just how it happens sometimes.

I read up about it. Looks like your side effects weren’t so uncommon, in fact the opposite. Nausea and bad stomach.
Darn medications. Where is that magic pill!?
